Chevy trucks are great, but there’s no substitute for a good, old-fashioned drive.
That’s what new owner of the brand Andy Stanglin does.
As a longtime owner of several trucks, he’s been thinking about the best way to get those big, powerful, and luxurious trucks into his driveway.
Stanglins recent truck-driving experience is well-documented.
In 2006, he purchased his first truck, a 1998 Chevy Impala.
He later drove an Impala for years until it crashed and burned.
He bought a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 in 2015, and this past summer he started a new truck in his living room with the same truck engine and transmission he used to drive it.
“The Chevy Impalas and Ram 2500s are the best-selling trucks in the U.S.,” he says.
“They’re all in excellent condition and they’re very easy to drive.”
And the best part?
Those engines aren’t that expensive.
“I drive all my own cars,” he says, “so it makes a lot of sense.”
How to Get the Most Out of Your New Chevy Trucks While there are plenty of great options out there, Stangels biggest challenge is getting those big trucks into the garage.
He’s already got a small collection of used pickups and SUVs in his garage, so he decided to build his own.
“You could spend a lot more money, but it’s a lot easier,” he explains.
The new truck he’s building is based on the Chevrolet Suburban, a truck that is one of the most popular pickups in the world.
The Suburban is a popular pickup, because it’s compact, powerful and easy to move.
It’s also a great truck for kids.
“If you’re looking for a pickup with a smaller footprint, I’d probably say the Suburban,” he notes.
Stanger has put the same engine and engine parts he uses in his Suburban into his new truck.
“It’s going to be a great addition to the family,” he said.
The Cummins turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 makes the truck extremely power-efficient.
Stangers engine is tuned to the EPA’s fuel economy ratings.
He also modified the engine to use an all-aluminum crankcase.
It gives him a larger engine, which gives him more power.
The big-block engine is also a bit larger than the one he used in his previous truck, and it produces a bit more torque.
The truck will also use an 8-inch-diameter exhaust, which is larger than he normally uses.
“That’s because it gives you a nice, big exhaust,” he explained.
“This will be perfect for a small family who needs to move a lot.”
The new Cummins engine makes the new truck even better than the old one.
“There’s no other truck engine like it out there,” he continues.
The diesel-electric hybrid system will be running the truck, too.
The four-cylinder engine has a total of eight cylinders, and Stangers is going to use it for all of his driving needs.
“My wife loves the Cummins,” he jokes.
“She thinks it’s the best truck engine she’s ever owned.”
How Will It Work?
Stanger says he’ll be using the engine in his truck as a starter and a generator.
When he’s ready to get to work, he’ll plug in the Cummines engine and get ready to make a stop.
“We’ll get on the highway and turn off the engine and we’ll start all over again,” he concludes.
But he’s also considering the option of having his truck used for long-distance travel.
“Sometimes I’m going to need a truck for longer distances and if I can get my truck running with an electric engine, that will make all the difference,” he states.
He estimates the Cummin engine will run for a year or more.
It will also have a lot less wear than the previous Cummins, so it won’t have any wear issues.
It also has a larger, stronger and longer-lasting battery, making it more durable than its predecessor.
And, of course, there’s the option to have the truck run on batteries instead of gasoline, so you don’t have to pay for extra fuel.
